Countdown to Computer is On!!!

I figured that I would post some rough specs of my computer that will become a reality in the next few weeks, so that people could see what I've ranted about for so long.
Here's a rough idea (specs subject to change).

The stock case will be swapped for a custom Lian-Li, shortly after purchase. I will be probably running a minimum of a dual boot configuration, on partitions of the RAID array. Most likely the OSes will be XP Home (free through my school) and a version of Linux. I will also have a TV tuner in the mix, once I find a widescreen enabled card.

Videos and The Sound

So I've recieved a couple of comments in the last little while about a lack of sound on some of the videos. I have discovered the cause and wish to pass on the information to everyone.

The videos are not hosted on this site itself, but rather on a seperate domain. They are all played using Shockwave, which fetches the video from the host domain. It then loads the information into your web browser. For some reason, (I'm not sure why) after loading about 8 videos the sound stops playing but the video still loads and plays. Refreshing the page should take care of the problem, deleting the contents of the Internet cache (cookies) will definitely do it.

Linux Thoughts Wanted!

So those of you who know me well, know that I am a computer geek at heart. This is going to become a place for me to post thoughts, questions, etc.

A very small number of people that haven't totally fazed out during my computer rants will know that I am not Microsoft's #1 fan. unfortunately for me, I don't know enough about Linux and its various distros, to be able to make the switch. I've done some reading and I'm now hoping to be able to discuss it with someone.
